The Home[e]age project has motivated me in many ways. First, I'm socializing with people who share my interests in the fields of art, music, theater, and movement. In fact, I'm doing the work even though my body is in pain. This means it's a healing experience. I've also showcased my dance skills, adding that at 67, I'm still alive, proving that age is just a number. I have dreams, goals, plans, and a desire to continue working on such an important project, motivating more people to continue developing their skills.

Although I love music, my dancing ability is quite limited. So when I arrived at the first Creative Dance workshop in my hometown of San Germán, I was a little scared. I didn't know what it was about, but I associate the word "dance" with "dancing." The truth is, I have my own dance style, my own rhythm, and following choreography isn't my thing. However, as soon as I understood what it was about, I became excited about the idea, which eventually became the Hom[e]age Project. The workshops gave me the opportunity to express myself at my own pace; I was able to create art and be part of the creations of the other people in the group. On a more intimate level, I must say that this experience helped me heal during one of the most critical moments I've experienced in my 70 years. Emotions flowed; I felt supported, understood, and not judged. And that's very important to me.

I learned about the wonderful opportunity that the Hom(e)age group was offering the people of San Germán. My mother prepared for the practice days with great joy. Those days helped her exercise appropriately for her age and socialize with a group of very sensitive and kind people. This group made us reflect on the great need for opportunities for seniors to move their bodies and know that they are necessary for society. I have no words to express the joy I experienced seeing these energized participants giving their best. In the group, my mother found an opportunity for age-appropriate body movement and socialization. At the end of this project, it was clear to see how the audience was transformed by the beauty of seeing these seniors feeling energized. I hope this opportunity continues.
