Yesterday I was invited to this performance. I went without any expectations since I wasn't familiar with the project. WOW, I was amazed. Arecibo people over 60 years old dancing, expressing themselves, choreographing with artistic excellence. The sound, setting, plot, and script were EXCELLENT. From the beginning, they captured the audience's attention. I laughed and inevitably tears of admiration and respect came to my eyes, because they achieved the art of body expression along with reflection, in addition to providing great entertainment.
This is Hom[e]age, an initiative by the Vision.AI.R-E company under the direction of Puerto Rican choreographer Ana Sanchez Colberg, where people over 60 years old from San Germán, Luquillo, and Arecibo were able to learn, create, and perform a piece. Yesterday, in Arecibo, this project concluded with the presentation of their piece. The audience was left wanting more, because it was art, it was excellent. From what I understand, the project gives them new skills while simultaneously creating the content with the participants. In other words, the knowledge of art is combined with the knowledge of those involved.
I know they want to continue, that there are communities interested. They need support, so that Ana Sánchez Colberg can do more, and based on what I spoke with her, her vision of what she can and wants to do is innovative and excellent.
